Nomination of our first historic district to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and its expansion in 2004, spurred interest in preserving Hyattsville's architectural heritage, and fomented a rebirth for many of the buildings that you may see on our Web site. What may not be evident, however, is the community sense and civic pride that the historic district has engendered in the whole City.

HPA received special recognition from Hyattsville's Mayor and City Council during May's National Historic Preservation Week 2004.

Meetings and newsletters highlight topics of home design and repair, community issues, gardening, historic preservation, and the economic and intangible benefits of inclusion in a ational Register historic district.
