Rosenwald Film on Monday April 18, 2016

Artist, renowned scholar in the field of African-American art
and Hyattsville resident David Driskell, will introduce the

movie and join the discussion following the showing of
Rosenwald, a film by Aviva Kempner, of Jewish philanthropist
Julius Rosenwald, who partnered
with African-American educator, Booker T. Washington,
to build 5400 Southern schools in African-American
communities in the early part of the 20th century.
There were 27 schools in Prince George’s County
that received funds from the Rosenwald fund.

Maryland Rehabilitation Tax Credits

Property Owners located within a Historic District
have the opportunity to earn a one-time state income tax credit equal to 20 percent of qualified rehabilitation expenditures. The credit is capped at $50,000 and must be spent in a 24-month period. A property owner must have a minimum of $5,000 of eligible expenses to qualify. A map of the Historic District can be found here:

Roof repair and replacement, Chimney repair and lining
Window restoration. New storm doors/windows
Masonry repointing, Floor refinishing
Structural repairs, Plumbing, electrical & mechanical systems
Architectural/ Engineering/ Consulting fees Tool/equipment rental
