Ten properties located within the City of Hyattsville are currently designated and protected by the Historic Preservation Ordinance of Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Located in Planning Area 68, these properties have been evaluated by the County Historic Preservation Commission and designated for their architectural and historical significance.

As of July 2004, five additional Hyattsville resources were being considered for Designated Site status as a part of the Gateway Arts District.

An exciting project was conducted by the students of the University of Maryland’s fall 2010 Historic Preservation 611 class. Each of the eleven students researched the history of a home in Hyattsville’s historic district.
